Thank you to both you and your youth for becoming a part of Youth Volunteer Corps! Before programming begins, please review these important details about your upcoming project.
Attendance - Volunteers are expected to attend the full duration of projects - alternate plans should be communicated with the YVC program director in advance. Transportation is not provided. Please drop off youth 5-10 minutes before the scheduled project start and plan to pick them up promptly each day. If youth can no longer attend a project, please notify us immediately as we may have volunteers on a waiting list. No refunds are given for cancellations or no shows.
What to Bring – Volunteers should bring a lunch each day of the project. A water bottle and sunscreen/bug spray are strongly recommended for outdoor projects.
What to Wear – Volunteers should wear a YVC t-shirt, weather-appropriate clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Volunteers should wear their YVC T-shirt every day of the project. One shirt is provided free to youth during the summer. Additional T-shirts may be purchased for $6 on the "Select Your Projects" page.
Inclement Weather Policy- Outdoor projects have an alternate indoor location in case of inclement weather, such as extreme heat, severe storms, etc. The project will still continue as scheduled. On the rare occasion a project must be cancelled, you will be alerted with as much advance notice as possible. Cancellations will be communicated via text to the number indicated in your registration. If you prefer an alternate communication method, please email email@example.com.
Youth Expectations- YVC youth volunteers commit to maintain a positive, respectful attitude; participate in all project activities; abstain from profanity, drugs, tobacco, alcohol, sexual activity, or violence of any form; and keep personal electronic devices out of sight during YVC projects when requested. Please be aware if youth do not comply, they will be given a warning and may be asked to leave the project if the behavior continues. Availability to communicate with you during the project if necessary is expected. Thank you for all you do to support these outstanding youth volunteers. They are going to make a difference in Jefferson Citythis summer, and you play a huge role in that. Welcome to the YVC family!
